RE: Does Cell Phone Use Cause Brain Cancer?

"Pittsburgh" is probably the cause of MORE cancers!
Wireless headsets are now the subject of the same rumors.

RE: Brake Buddy Vantage SELECT (proportional)

Don't expect them to give an answer. I have the Vantage, and it stinks! ANY money spent to upgrade with BB is a risky waste! They certainly are not the company that earned their reputation (it has been SOLD!). I bought based on reputation, and I've been disappointed. My several calls to their Tech Dept have gotten the run-around - and the VANTAGE remote is useless in any circumstance! The remote battery only lasts a few hours, and its "low battery" indicator doesn't work when the battery is low - go figure!
The BB comes on when driving down inclines (every off-ramp!), never works going up an incline, holds braking action too long, and is only functionally "adjustable" at the upper two settings. It's only useful in heavy, emergency braking - which is what BB eventually will tell you is its purpose. REALLY? That's not what they said when I was shopping!
If you get any satisfaction from them, please let me know. I hate JUNK almost as much as I hate being ripped-off!

RE: Is There a True "All-Terrian" Tow bar?

OR... drive the toad forward and set the toad parking brake - it releases some of the tension on the towbar.
You're right! That "AT" business is a stretch! I have managed to hook-up on some significant drop-offs, but it isn't "all terrain".

RE: Rust problems?

Just because they're in Central Florida doesn't mean anything. They could have come from anywhere - and been through anything! One trip around the "used lot" at Lazydays will show you.
I check the metal framing around the basement storage bins - inside the water heater and furnace doors - framing and supports inside the front and rear caps. Even the best detailers don't bother with all these areas.
I've seen some that were 5 years old and clean as new - and others... not! Condensation is as much a problem and being parked near the water or in tall grass - and watch out for units parked alongside the ocean!
Despite what the manufacturers say, I see little evidence of worthwhile rustroofing on frames and undercarriages. While I haven't seen any crumbling due to rust-through, WHY buy one that has a lot of rust?

RE: Best A Class you can buy for sale on E-Bay

Well - it's a "NO SALE" anyway!
here's the Negative Feedback the "buyer" has posted:"very deceitful description van was in deplorable condition mechanics & asthetics"
We can assume he didn't complete the purchase! I wonder if he REALLY intended to buy it?

RE: Keeping Dog cool in car

I leave the engine running - AC blowing - and doors locked (I carry a second key).
My car's alarm and defense system complicates this - I have to stop the engine, remove the key, re-insert the key and re-start. I also have a remote start system that will allow the engine to run for 15 minutes without having a key in the ignition - only two 15 minute "cycles" allowed before the ignition key must be re-inserted. The car is too smart!!
Unfortunately, the AC automatically goes to "fresh air" and won't recirculate when using the remote start.
"FANS" alone don't keep the temperature down, so don't expect some sort of fan to be enough when the windows are up.

RE: Fantastic Fan issues

The hard-to-see switch - that turns it off when the lid is closed - gets dirty and sticks. I'm sure the sticking switch is the reason for such erratic operation. Find it and push the plunger up and down many times - then, call FF.

RE: Tucson Dealer won't honor E-Bay Auction- Advice

ONE FEEDBACK - since 2002? No other items listed in current "history" on Ebay! These were NOT experienced sellers, and your assumptions were incorrect. You were seriously wrong to believe you'd carefully researched them. If, as you send the deposit, seriously thought the sale would be completed - you were fooling yourself. Using Paypal, you didn't risk losing the deposit - but the signs were there that the sale might not happen.
There's no way to effectively enforce this - and the risk of never getting back your legal fees is significant. No "responsible" lawyer would touch this - and no "bad" lawyer would take it without demanding a huge retainer! Face it - you won't "WIN" this game!
Your best options: "Blog" about them - Write an Ebay "GUIDE" about your experience (not that anyone reads them, but you'll feel better knowing there's more info about it out there), give them a Negative Feedback, and give them an occasional "knock" on Internet Forums (like this) knowing that any other potential buyer (who knows what he's doing) will GOOGLE "Nelson RV" before dealing with them, and any Forum posts will come up on Google.
Mentioning legal action is the best way to get your posts on this Forum removed - and NO ONE will see them!

RE: 2009 Dutch Star/ 2009 HR Endeavor

I believe the new DS is more like the former Mountain Aire - the former KS is replacing the DS.
With all the problems at Monaco recently, it's more clear that they might be "gone" someday (even though the changes MIGHT be what saves them!). If so, having the Roadmaster chassis (company owned) might make Monaco products the biggest "orphan" problems ever. I also worry that Monaco might someday drop the HR line to cut the expense - HR MUST cut into "Monaco" sales. That's not to say Newmar isn't suffering as a financial entity. If you can tell which companies will survive, please let us know! -
I love both products - but I'd choose the DS for myself. You should buy whichever you like best - they're both excellent choices.

RE: connecting batteries

A little late for this - but I take lots of pictures with my digital camera BEFORE I start pulling on things. It's nice to have the pictures in the laptop alongside when I'm putting things back.
I agree with the other poster - If you're asking this question - GET HELP FIRST!

RE: Battery Question

If they're plugged-in most of the time, they may not need the expensive batteries. Sam's Club has what you need - cheap, really cheap!
People who are plugged-in all the time are often people who aren't much interested in maintaining "good" batteries. I very seldom need mine for "on the road", so I'd rather replace them more often and worry about them less.
As for the argument of 2-6V vs 1-12V - who cares? Each scenario will do the job. I'd go with the basic set-up Monaco designed.

RE: Monaco Article

Monaco has taken "the bitter pill", but the REAL QUESTION is "Big enough, Soon enough?"
Whatever business - continuing losses can't continue very long. Monaco's bold move to trim the size of the company is probably what the Big Three would LOVE to do right now. At least, Monaco CAN bail-out for a reasonable charge v. the expenses to be saved - the automakers aren't so nimble.
It's possible that future sales will be able to support the new, smaller Monaco business model. What I expect ALL the motorhome manufacturers regret is the enormous amounts they've spent in trying to out-class their competition over the last five years. All the new styling, glamour, and models haven't really changed the companies' positions against each other - and they could really use some of that "spent expense" back in their balance sheets today. A cautionary tale for us all!

RE: Help. Need manuals for a 1995-96 Southwind by Fleetwood

Fleetwood's original manual, while having a lot of information, is not technical or specific enough regarding "systems", wiring, or schematics. Fleetwood's (earlier) policy was "10 years" for saving technical drawings and blueprint-type info. Still, your best place to start is to call Fleetwood and ask what they may have to send you.

RE: Newer Caymen or older Knight

Brand new Knights - with more power and options - are currently being advertised for $175K. NEW, with a full warranty. Otherwise, I agree that you should be able to find a newer, RR8R chassis Knight or Ambassador for a better price - it's a better choice.

RE: 1993 Pace Arrow Parts

I have a 1994 PA.
Some items are still available through dealers. Mountain Road RV, Sabattus, ME has a very good parts person, Andi, who works off emailed pictures and your Fleetwood ID number (found on the label outside your MH). The door switches panel will probably need to come from a junkyard, but the switches themselves may be replaceable.
I've seen the dash switches offered on Ebay and at various RV stores, but they may be hard to find. I'd suffer with your functioning ones.
The Washer unit is often seen on Ebay - and is commonly available - made by Denso - about $30. which is good because the UV kills them!

RE: The message is not out yet.

Not to say the times aren't tough - but EBAY is not now, and has never been, a good indicator of RV sales. Even when times were "good" and EBAY was "HOT" - very few units met RESERVE or actually sold at auction. More units were sold "outside" of Ebay through contacts made on Ebay. A lack of bids is also due to Bidders' having "wised-up" to the fact that bids which don't meet the reserve are worthless. ALL EBAY sales are weak - people aren't mesmerized by EBAY anymore - people are "over it".
A more significant indicator is the fact that fewer "better" or newer RVs are being offered on Ebay - most newer RVs are being offered by dealers who NEVER sell. Those dealers are only interested in getting you to make contact so they can sell to you in person.
It's interesting that the anticipated FLOOD of RV sales by financially distressed owners isn't seeming to happen - and the flood of repossessed RVs is very small. With hardly any inventory on dealer's lots - and dealers trying to make enough profit to sustain business on every sale - BUYING an RV seems harder than ever!

RE: Not a new topic, but a new source of material, kinda

I have cut these down, sprayed black, and put them inside the windows I don't use (like the one over my headboard - and all bedroom windows while driving in the Winter) - far less heat and NOISE, easy to fold and store when not being used.
